Gypsy originally came to us after being scheduled to be euthanized at a rural kill shelter in the southern part of the country. Shortly after Gypsy came to AR, she was adopted by a couple who then had her for over a year. Sadly, they decided to give her up due to “breaking up” and neither person wanting the responsibility of a dog alone.

Gypsy was absolutely perfect, aside from being quite terrified by the huge change in her life, and we just couldn’t imagine how her previous family could give her up so easily. It broke our hearts to see her struggle during her transition, through absolutely no fault of her own.

Gypsy’s now forever family had actually fallen in love with her before she was adopted the first time. However, they sadly were not quite ready to adopt at that time. Gypsy had stuck in the back of their minds, and when they saw she was available for adoption again they told us that it felt like fate! They were finally ready to adopt and the dog they never stopped thinking about was now available.

We are so grateful for families who take adoption seriously, and ensure they are fully prepared to take on a dog for their entire life, no matter what circumstances may arise, before committing to adoption. We believe dogs are family and family is for life, so we strive to find homes for our dogs that share those same values.

We would like to think Gypsy was always meant to be a part of her now forever family, but it just took her a little bit of extra time to get to them.

She now spends her days being adored and given endless love, like she always deserved. We are confident she is part of a wonderful family who she will truly be with for life. Big hugs to Gypsy and her wonderful parents!
