Beau

Beau (fka Waldo) came to us as a stray thanks to our friends at Goodboy Dog Recovery. He was lost alone, and in need of medical attention. We were happy to provide him that care and help him find the forever home he always deserved!

Please read this wonderful update written below:

“Hello, friends,

I am the dog formerly known as “Waldo”. In January of 2025, I was lost in the woods, I was all alone, and I was scared. Brave and caring people never gave up on me and got me to a rescue that put my story and my picture on Facebook. I was then adopted from a foster home into my forever home on January 18, 2025. My new fur mom’s name is Diane, but I call her “mummy”.

So, I’m writing today for a few reasons. First, I wanted to let you know that mummy is very grateful to all of you at Angel’s Retreat and the good people at GoodBoy Dog Recovery for your kindness and your commitment to helping those of us that are in a seemingly helpless situation. Dog rescue is very important to mummy, and she sure is glad that I rescued her! I also wanted to tell you a little about my new life:

• Mummy gave me a new name when I got home: I’m now Beau Pawterno in homage to a long-time football coach at her alma matter. She’s such a pip! I have special dog beds on each floor of the house where I live now, and mummy and I spend the first half hour of every day cuddling. After breakfast, we take the first of several daily walks. The morning walk is the long one, where I get to see some of my neighbors. They all say that I’m handsome. I must be, because mummy tells me that too. I get a snack for lunch and then we go out to get the mail. After dinner, we always take another walk. In between, we play with my squeaky toys, and at night, I get a paw massage before we turn in.
• I’ve been to two different veterinarians so far, because mummy wants to make sure that I’m happy and healthy. Both vets said that I’m at the perfect weight now for my size now. I’ve been treated for a few minor things, and I’m currently recovering neutering surgery.
• I go to the groomer on a regular basis, and a nice dog trainer came to the house to help with some trust and counter surfing issues that I had as well as with my leash manners. Training is a work in progress, but mummy is very surprised at how smart I am.

In closing, if you ever wonder where Waldo is now, there’s no need to worry about me. Mummy is head over heels crazy about me, and she does whatever she can to make me comfy and content. Please be assured that I do love you all, though, and I will always remember you with deep appreciation.

Your friend,
Beau Pawterno (f/k/a “Waldo”)”

Big hugs to Beau and his wonderful forever family! You’re so grateful to see our dogs being loved the way they always deserved! Thank you for being part of our Angel’s Retreat family.
