Gracie

Gracie (formerly Molly) came to us from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster County. She spent her life as a mill mama—used and abused for profit, forced to have litter after litter of puppies. When she arrived, we also discovered what appeared to be an old stab wound — a heartbreaking physical reminder of the trauma she had endured.

Adopting a dog who has lived through so much trauma requires patience, understanding, and love. But in return, these dogs give back tenfold — offering the purest gratitude and unconditional affection you could ever imagine. Today, Gracie’s life is filled with comfort, love, and people who want nothing from her except the love she has to give. This is the happy ending we dream of for every single mill mama.

Please enjoy this beautiful update from Gracie’s forever family:

“We are celebrating one year since adopting Gracie, a former puppy mill mama. The beginning of our journey together was anything but smooth — from helping her adjust to going potty in our yard instead of on walks, to recovering from her spay and stab wound closure surgeries. But now, we can say with complete confidence that we can’t imagine our lives without our girl.

Whether she’s playing ball in the yard, traveling to the beach, going for walks, snuggling on the couch, or snoozing surrounded by her beloved lambies, she is our perfect angel and a true blessing. We are so thankful to Angel’s Retreat for giving puppy mill survivors like Gracie a chance at happiness and for providing the medical care she needed. She is absolutely thriving now.”

Big hugs to Molly, Zach, and Elise — thank you for opening your hearts to such a special girl. Your love and patience gave Gracie the life she always deserved and we are grateful to have helped her find her way to you!

If you’re considering adopting, please open your heart to a mill mama. It may take a little extra love and patience at first, but the reward is beyond measure!
