Milo

Milo (fka Zudo) came to us, along with his entire litter, at just 8 weeks old after being dumped at a high-kill shelter in North Philadelphia. Milo and his siblings had all contracted the deadly puppy disease, Parvovirus.

These puppies likely came from a backyard breeder who didn’t understand what it means to be responsible — to protect the health of the mother and her puppies. Sadly, the breeder waited to surrender them until they were already very sick. Parvo treatment is most effective when started early, and one of the litter didn’t survive. But we gave everything we had to save the rest.

The first two weeks were touch-and-go, with our dedicated team spending countless sleepless nights providing supportive care and love. Thanks to their efforts, the puppies recovered and were given back their lives.

We immediately placed them in experienced foster homes while searching for their forever families. Huskies can be a challenging breed due to their intelligence, energy, and stubbornness, and parvo puppies coming out of treatment and isolation are in desperate need of foster homes to help them catch up on life, gain confidence, receive proper socialization, and begin training. In Milo’s case, his wonderful foster parents— along with their older husky, Juneau — fell in love with him, and it quickly became clear he had found his forever home!

Here’s an update from Milo’s forever family:

“Milo is doing great in his new home! He’s growing like a weed, loves wrestling with his brother, cuddling, and exploring the outdoors.

We were unsure how he would fit in at first, as our husky can be picky, but they bonded immediately. It was clear Milo was the missing piece in our family. We love him and are so happy that a short foster stay turned into a forever family member.

Thank you to Angel’s Retreat for the incredible Parvo program. We are amazed by all the work you and your team do and are honored to support a rescue like yours. Seeing first-hand the sacrifices made to ensure dogs like Milo have a chance at a forever home has been incredible, and we are forever grateful. Thank you for helping us find our sweet Milo.”

Big hugs to Milo, John, and Katie! Your patience, care, and willingness to foster made all the difference in Milo’s life, and we’re overjoyed it turned into a forever match!

Milo came into this world with so many obstacles stacked against him, yet today he thrives in a home full of love, play, and comfort. His story is a reminder of what rescue is all about: giving deserving dogs a chance to finally know safety, happiness, and family.
