Shirley

Shirley came to us from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster County. She spent her life as a mill mama—used and abused for profit, forced to have litter after litter of puppies.

Adopting a dog who has lived through so much trauma requires patience, understanding, and love. But in return, these dogs give back tenfold — offering the purest gratitude and unconditional affection you could ever imagine.

Today, Shirley’s life is filled with comfort, love, and people who want nothing from her except the love she has to give. This is the happy ending we dream of for every single mill mama.

Please enjoy this update from Shirley’s forever family:

“She’s changed so much and is an entirely different dog now. No accidents, has the run of the house when no one is home, has started barking now when people come into the house she doesn’t know and is still a little scared with new things but ends up doing amazing!

She is my Velcro dog and follows me EVERYWHERE!! Not sure the last time I peed by myself! lol. She got her first full professional groom today. Not sure if you remember she had huge bald spots on her back from whatever the puppy mill had her in but now it’s fully grown in and she looks fabulous! She stays in her bed all night and hasn’t gone in her crate in over 3 weeks. She still not a toy fan but that’s ok.

See attached photos from her full groom today along with previous pictures from prior to groom. I also attached the picture from the very first day we got her for comparison. Thank you again for allowing me to be her mommy! She’s amazing and she lovessss long walks! Thank you again!”

Big hugs to Elizabeth and Shirley— thank you for opening your hearts to such a special girl! Your love and patience gave Shirley the life she always deserved and we are grateful to have helped her find her way to you!
